Wicklow Rovers net magnificent seven against Avonmore
Premier Division
Wicklow Rovers ‘A’ netted a magnificent seven in Ballygannon on Sunday morning as they proved too strong for hosts Avonmore ‘A’.
The visitors ran out impressive 7-2 winners, with Lorcan Sinnott and Gareth Murphy bagging braces and Oussama Kemouche, Alex Glynn and Rikki Quinn chipping in with a goal apiece.
Callum Pursey and Cian O hAnnáin scored for the home side.
Meanwhile, Shamrock Celtic secured a 4-2 victory against Arklow Town ‘A’ (see focus match).
Division 1
High-flying Greystones United got another three points on the board on Sunday when overcoming Newtown United ‘B’ 3-0 at Woodlands.
Peter Burke (two) and Seán Lawless got the goals for the table-toppers.
St. Patrick’s beat Arklow Town ‘B’ 4-1 in Kilcashel with a Jake Hamilton double and a goal apiece from Cian O’Neill and Stephen McCauley.
Wicklow Rovers ‘B’ lifted themselves off of the foot of the table by seeing off Ashford Rovers ‘B’ in Ballinalea Park.
Tadgh Lord, Alex Sinnott, Mubarak Ogboye and substitute Cormac Doyle got the goals for the winners.
Elsewhere, Rathnew ‘A’ and
Carnew ‘A’ shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw (see focus match).
Division 3
Rathnew ‘B’ made it nine wins from nine in Division 3 with a 4-0 success against Wicklow Rovers ‘C’ in Whitegates on Sunday.
Shawn Paul Dunne (two), Andy Fitzgerald and Ross Quinn got the goals for the title favourites.
Seán Harte scored a late winner for Arklow United ‘B’, who are level on points with Rathnew but have played five games more.
Darragh Synnott scored their opener in a 2-1 away win over Ballywaltrim, while Lee Hempenstall equalised with a 25-yard screamer that went in off the bar.
A Declan Breslin double earned Avonmore ‘B’ a 2-0 win over Carnew ‘B’, while Glenealy ran out impressive 6-2 winners against Arklow Town ‘C’.
Davy Rowan helped himself to a hat-trick, while Wayne O’Gorman added a brace and Alan Driver chipped in with a goal for Glenealy.
Youths Division
Third-placed Arklow United earned a 5-2 win over Glencormac United in Ryder’s Field on Saturday.
Callum Hodgkinson, Luke Murray, Lucas O’Rourke and Lukas Godkin (two) got the goals for the winners, while Conor Haines and Ryan O’Brien netted for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Aughrim Rangers won 2-0 away to Coolboy.
