caught in the breeze and dipped just under the crossbar for a goal. It left just a point between the sides at the break 1-5 to 1-4.

Kiltegan began the second half well and Derek Daly levelled scores from a free after five minutes.

Seanie Furlong had them one point ahead when he judged a free brilliantly off that trusty left peg, but John Fox responded well when he guided over an excellent point into the breeze to bring scores level at 1-6 each as the game moved into the last quarter.

Like Kiltegan in the opening half, the Sugarloaf men were playing well into the breeze in the second period.

They were holding possession well and making progress forward carefully, trying hard not to lose the ball carelessly.

Derek Daly from a free and Seanie Furlong from another edged Kiltegan into a 1-8 to 1-6 lead by twenty minutes.

It was at this stage that things went astray for Kilmac.

First, they lost wing forward Mikey Doyle to a black card leaving them almost certainly down to 14 players for the remainder of the game.

A great chance of a goal fell to Rob Conan when a ball broke down into his path just outside the square, but the big midfielder blazed wide from close in.

However, the final hammer blow came from Kiltegan. A longrange effort from centre-forward Stephan Farrell landed in on fullback Cian Rafferty, full-forward Seanie Furlong and goalkeeper Emmet Murphy.

The ball somehow evaded all three and sailed on into the net for a somewhat fortunate goal.

However, they all count, and Kiltegan were now ahead by 2-8 to 1-6 and secure in the knowledge that they were collecting the two match points.

John Fox added the final Kilmac point from a free to leave the final score at 2-8 to 1-7 in favour of the home team.
