HEALTHBEACON

-

HealthBeacon (No.8), established in 2013 by Jim Joyce and Kieran Daly, has been a slow burn for the founders and the company backers. The company’s injection care management system is used by patients who self-inject medications at home. It is digitally connected and programmed with personal medication schedules, and features reminder prompts so people don’t forget to take their medications at the right time.

The idea has attracted substantial equity investment, which amounted to

€ 13m at the end of 2019. Losses since startup amounted to € 7.5m at the end of that year, not including € 2.5m accounted for as prototype development in the company’s balance sheet. The venture booked a loss of € 2.6m through 2019 and year-end cash was € 2.2m. Trade debtors were € 320,000, marginally down on the previous year.

In August 2020, HealthBeacon announced that it is now an official supplier to the National Health Service in Britain. Also that month, former health minister Mary Harney joined the board of directors.
