‘Our key focus has to be on delivering excellent client service’ Managing Partner ByrneWallace

ACTIVITY The long-term strategy of the firm, over many years, has been to be broadbased in terms of the range and depth of services we offer our clients. This has helped us manage our way successfully through the pandemic. Many of our clients have needed us more than ever to help them navigate through often difficult challenges.

REMOTE WORKING Remote working in some guise is certainly here to stay. What works best for people and for businesses is a topic that we are all considering at the moment. My view is that mandatory work

from home en masse creates all sorts of latent issues and distortions that will take some time to truly become apparent. The real challenge is to take the positives that this new way of working creates for people in their working lives and marry these to the needs of our clients. These objectives are perfectly compatible in my view, with some creativity and flexibility.

How we engage with our clients may have changed somewhat as we have moved into remote forms of engagement, but the level of service has remained constant throughout. Our key focus has to be on delivering an excellent service to our clients, even more so in times of Covid, and we have worked really hard as a team to deliver on that.

OUTLOOK Banks are much more robust and supportive than during the recession a decade ago, while central policy decisions mean there continues to be a great deal of capital to support economic activity over the coming years. This is already evident to transactional lawyers, whether they are working on banking, M&A or property mandates. As the pandemic evolves and abates and consumer spending resumes, we believe this will become even more evident in the months and years ahead.
