Smooth Driving With Stylish Megane
After five years on sale, is fighting to keep the current generation hatch relevant. The Megane’s stiffest competition comes from the VW Golf, Kia Ceed and SEAT Leon.
Prices for the refreshed Renault Megane start at €24,740 and it is available in three trim levels – Play, Iconic, and the new €30,690 R.S. Line (tested here) with a 1.5-litre diesel with 115hp and a six-speed manual gearbox. The R.S. Line gets new exterior trim and uplifts in cabin tech and comfort, including Recaro-like bucket seats.
The Megane isn’t the fastest, most dynamic or best-built car in the segment. However, it is a standout in the c-segment pockmarked by cars with overtly firm dampening. Driven over different roads, the Megane is undemanding and smooth. The controls are light in operation and easy to use without disappearing into a digital touchscreen.
It is also one of the prettiest hatchbacks on sale. For buyers chasing a less frenetic five-door hatch with warmed tech and trim, the 2021 Renault Megane fits the bill.
