FOODPRINT MEASURES SCOPE 3 EMMISSIONS

-

Forthcoming regulations are seen as major triggers for future product development growth at Nutritics. “The really exciting bit is around the carbon footprint of food because the regulatory winds are starting to blow,” CEO Stephen Nolan explains.

“There are regulations coming where you must declare the carbon impact of your supply chain. We are really excited by the potential of our new Foodprint product, which can further support our clients on their journey towards net zero.”

Foodprint is an automated system for estimating carbon emissions and water use in the hospitality and food service sector. Nutritics regards the product so highly that it is seeking patent

protection for the proprietary algorithm.

With pressure all along the food supply chain for enterprises to prove their ESG credentials, the idea with Foodprint is that foodservice operators can calculate and report their Scope 3 emissions in a credible and transparent manner.

According to Nolan: “A carbon footprint score can be allocated to packaging, dishes, screens, and promotional materials.

And as you enter recipes into Nutritics, your Foodprint score is updated, considering the environmental impact specific to each ingredient.

“Displaying your carbon footprint score on packaging, dishes and promotional materials builds trust and loyalty, bringing your customers with you on the road to net carbon zero.”
