ACTIVITY After a slow start to 2022 due to restrictions, meeting business picked up quite quickly. Having spent so much time on Zoom and Teams, people wanted to re-group, get in the room together, brainstorm and have spontaneous flows of creativity and ideas.
We work with many of the airlines and ground handlers, and their need to train teams to be ready for the busy summer season resulted in a lot of training events. The high turnover of staff in aviation means that this business is ongoing. In addition we saw many associations and business industry events taking place for the first time again since pre-pandemic times.
TRENDS Technology has become a much bigger part of the planning aspects for any event, as organisers strive to make events available to both delegates on site along with delegates online.
FACILITIES Last summer we launched our Runway 28 Meeting Suite and it has been a huge success. Located on the third floor of the hotel, the meeting room has expansive views across Dublin city and mountains, and an enviable view over Dublin Airport and the runways. The re-development of this meeting room came as a result of a very successful Runway 28 rooftop restaurant launch in 2021, which was born from demand for outside dining as a result of the restrictions.
OUTLOOK We feel that meeting business in 2023 will certainly be on a par with 2022. We have a strong base of local corporate and aviation companies who are very loyal to us. Our new Runway 28 Suite is proving to be very popular for larger events.

ACTIVITY While the start of 2022 was not what we expected, the remainder of the year saw great pick-up, with some business rescheduled from Covid and new business that welcomed the return to normality. Larger gala dinners were well attended, with attendees appreciating the return of in-person events. While most conferences were completely in person, some did have a hybrid element.
TRENDS Mid-week meetings are proving more popular, with more meetings having a stayover and team-building element. Lead time for smaller meeting is shorter, with larger events still booking further out. We are fortunate to have a range of events spaces suitable for meeting from two to 500 guests, providing our planners with multiple options.
TIPS With the return to normal bookings, our advice is extend the lead time for events, especially with larger conferences that require multiple breakout spaces and bedrooms.
