Dollard comes of age at Ulster Open
BRANDON Dollard of CúChulainn Archers has had a number of Irish records confirmed following another impressive performance at the recent Ulster Indoor Open Championship.
Craigavon Leisure centre hosted the competition, with a big turnout of top archers present, and the dedicated CúChulainn members headed north with a disadvantage before the event even started as the distance was slightly different to the more usual 18 metres shot at Archery Ireland events.
Nevertheless, the archers contingent were still in typically formidable form, led by 13-yearold Brandon who again showed his natural skills to bring home another gold to add to his repidly growing collection.
Deirdre Rogers also won a gold medal in the Ladies Master Compound, while John Keenan shot a fierce fight and took silver in the Gents Masters Compound. Éamonn Rogers took silver in the Gents Senior Compound and Christina O’Sullivan shot some very impressive PBs in the Ladies Senior Compound despite suffering severe back problems.
Remaining CúChulainn members stayed at home to attend the Drogheda Independent Coca-Cola Sport Star Awards ceremony and witness Ann Marie Murray receiving her monthly award for February.
A fantastic night was had by all and the team came away feeling how much effort each individual nominee accomplished for their goals and dreams. With the support of family, coaches, clubmates etc, it just shows that anything is possible!
