St Bride’s open with Seans win

ST BRIDES SEAN O’MAHONYS 2-8 1-5

-

ST Brides claimed a six-point victory over Sean O’Mahonys at a wind-swept DkIT on Saturday night.

The poor conditions didn’t hinder the county champions as they started the better, but St. Brides hit back, scoring 1-3 without reply. The highlights being a brace from Kevin Hearty and goal from debutant, Darren Bailey, to send his side in at the break leading by 1-4 to 0-2.

The Quay men were gifted a lifeline just after the restart when a long ball deceived Brides’ custodian, Darren Breen, and somehow trickled over the goal line. Conor Finnegan followed up with two points to leave the minimum between the sides.

However, at the opposite end Ross Kehoe steadied the ship for St Brides with a well-taken point before another Hearty brace left the Reds four points in front. SEAN Marry netted for St. Brides deep into stoppage time to conclude the scoring.
