Coyle and Monica Synnott.

Best of luck to our senior team as they embark on their campaign for 2017, and also to the team management of Hugh Diamond and Gerry Gallagher.

They played their opening game against Naomh Mairtin B in a cold and blustery Monasterboice on Sunday morning in the Kevin Mullen Shield and a great effort was put in by the lads. They are in Group B which also includes Wolfe Tones and St Kevin’s.

With the new Gaelic season gearing up, John Mitchel’s have now launched our online shop. Club gear can be purchased for all ages, so now there is no excuse not to be turned out in Mitchel’s colours whether you are a player or supporter! Rehearsals are going really well for our Strictly Rivals on March 11th in the Nuremore Hotel. It’s a battle of the clubs as we take on Stabannon to win the Strictly title for 2017.

Tickets for the Strictly Rivals Show are now available from the dancers or from any Committee member. This is a big fundraiser for our club and we genuinely appreciate the huge effort our dancers are putting in. Another very important group who have rallied to our cause are the sponsors of our dancers and of the main event. If any business wants to get behind the Mitchels through sponsorship or advertising, please email Pro.johnmitchels.louth@gaa.ie and we will be happy to acknowledge your support.

In our Last Man Standing Competition we had 113 entries that made it through to the 2nd Round of the competition. Once again the results were all over the place and were notoriously tough to predict. Of the 113 people who made it through to the 2nd round only 35 made it through to the 3rd Round. Donegal with 16 picks, followed by Clare (8), Galway (5) Kildare (2) and Meath (2) got the 33 through. Hard luck to the 80 people who were eliminated with the biggest impact made by Monaghan (36), Kerry (20) and Dublin (15). The next Round is on the weekend of the 25th/26th February.

Well done to our Intermediate team who had a good 3-7(16) to 1-8(11) victory over Naomh Martin in the 1st Round of the Paddy Sheelan Cup this morning.
