SEAN OMAHONYS 2-19 OLIVER PLUNKETTS 1-10
SEAN O’Mahonys picked up their first win of the season at the second attempt when they proved too strong for an inexperienced Oliver Plunketts at the Point Road on Sunday morning.
The County Champions did most of the damage in the first half went into the break with a 14-point win to ensure they were never in any real danger despite a late revival from the Drogheda men.
Cian Matthews opened the scoring for the Drogheda men but the Seans responded in style to score 1-6 without reply including a goal from David Dowling.
Dowling added a second goal to put his side 2-12 to 0-4 ahead at the short whistle, with the Plunketts scores coming from Cian Brady 2 and Barry Reynolds 2.
The Plunketts raised their game after the interval and hit back with a goal of their own from a Shaun Bannon penalty.
However, it was never going to be enough to deny the O’Mahonys their first win of the new season.
