KILKERLEY EMMETS 1-12 ST MOCHTAS 1-12

KILKERLEY rescued a draw at home to St Mochtas on Sunday morning with two injury time points.

Not for the first time it was Shane Lennon who proved to be the saviour for the Emmets as the landed a late free to deny the Mochtas.

The Louth Village men were making their first appearance of the season and in the opening stages they looked a little rusty as Kilkerley dominated the exchanges. That early pressure saw Sean Hand find the net as his side struck 1-4 without reply inside nine minutes.

However, the Mochtas responded in impressive fashion and a goal from Eamon O’Neill saw them take a 1-5 to 1-4 lead. The home side finished the half on top and went in leading by 1-7 to 1-6.

The second half continued to be a competitive affair although the scoring rate slowed down. It looked as if the visitors had done enough to claim the win when they held a two-point advantage. However, Kilkerley weren’t finished and snatched a draw thanks to Lennon’s late strike.
