Big wins for Pats and Mary’s

A NUMBER of Paddy Sheelan Cup and Kevin Mullen Shield back-fixtures were played last weekend as the majority of clubs enjoyed a free weekend

In Group B, St Marys recorded a comprehens­ive 3-19 to 0-8 victory over St Mochtas at DkIT on Friday night.

The Ardee side were never under any real pressure throughout the game as they chalked up their second successive win.

The winners were 1-12 to 0-5 ahead at the break and their goals came from Darren Clarke, Dean Matthews and Mark Fay.

Meanwhile, St Patricks also made it two wins from two when they defeated Glen Emmets on a scoreline of 3-14 to 0-9 on Friday night.

The Group E game at Clogherhea­d saw the Tullyallen side put in a battling performanc­e in the opening half, but a goal from Colin McCann helped the Pats go in at the break leading by 1-7 to 0-7.

The second half saw the Lordship side dominate and goals from Jason Woods and Eoghan Lafferty helped them to a comfortabl­e win.

The Group A game on Sunday morning saw St Josephs score their first win of the season when they defeated Geraldines by 2-7 to 1-6 at Haggardsto­wn.

In the Kevin Mullen Shield Roche Emmets secured at 2-16 to 1-9 win over the Westerns. The Group D game saw the Faughart side lead by 1-9 to 0-5 at half time, with Barry O’Hare and Conor Macken claiming the goals.
