Slane school band will lead parade through the village

SLANE’S St. Patrick’s Day Parade which will be led by the St.Patrick’s National School Band, starts at the school at 3pm, finishing at the Castle Gardens, Navan road.

This year there are 35 entrants, including floats and walking groups and there will be a prize for the best float.

The usual characters will be in attendance, led by St.Patrick, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and of course the Oompaa Loompaas who will be carrying bags of sweets for the children.

Four of these bags will contain Golden Tickets, prizes for which can be collected from Mimnaghs. Also this year there will be a guest appearance by Donald Trump, Barrack Obama, the Queen and Enda Kenny!

Thai Chi Dragons are giving a demonstati­on while doves will be let off in the square. There will be street music and refreshmen­ts in the Parochial Hall after the parade.
