LEINSTER RUGBY
FOLLOWING a very successful inaugural Leinster Rugby/DKIT Future Stars, the search for the 2017 award winners kicked into gear over the last month, culminating in a regional blitz for school teams held in DkIT.
The awards were created to recognise the effort and talents of young rugby players in the north east. With three local clubs in the area going from strength to strength and a host of schools playing rugby at all levels, the time is right to further develop the links between Leinster Rugby, Dundalk Institute of Technology and the rugby stakeholders in the area.
The concept was formulated by Ray McCabe, rugby development officer with DkIT and CCRO for Dundalk RFC and now CRO with Leinster Rugby in the Dublin City area.
After going through a selection and talent identification process during the year 45 nominees were chosen. A public vote combined with the selections of a judging committee will determine a final list of 15 award winners. Each of the winners will be presented by current Leinster Rugby players with a specially created FutureStars jersey which was kindly supplied and designed by CX+ Sport on 22nd of March at the awards night in DkIT.
