Costello different class

DUNLEER AC’s in-form Karen Costello added yet another medal to her collection when she claimed victory in the ladies race at Sunday’s Bohermeen Half-Marathon a time of 1:26:17.

Costello’s energy and enthusiasm for training and competitio­n knows no bounds as she continues her rise in the athletics world and she is the current Louth senior and masters cross-country champion, Indoor Leinster 3km champion, National Indoor 3k silver medallist and Novice Leinster and National cross-country medallist.

David Carrie, Dunleer AC’s club chairman, finished second Over-50 in Bohermeen in 1:20:35, while Richard Califf finished in 1:40:18 and newcomer Barry Mc Ginn came home in 1:49:05 at his first attempt over the distance.

Ian Pat Carroll (Over-55) will be pleased to have broken the two-hour barrier again in 1:59:33.

In the Bohermeen 10k Róisín Donnelly had a personal best time of 44:43 and was third lady in her category - Over-40.
