-

LAURA Bolster produced the starring performances for Cushinstown AC on Saturday as she returned from the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Indoor Championships with gold and silver medals.

Bolster was one of four athletes from the club who travelled to Athlone for the last day of the competition and her memorable day started with a second-place finish in the Under-13 long jump with a fantastic leap of 4.67m.

Not settling for that, she went on to win her heat of the 60m hurdles before storming to victory in that final in a brilliant time of 9.88sec.

Cushinstown almost claimed two medals in that event, with Mollie White - winner of one of the other heats - finishing fourth despite carrying a knee injury.

In the Under-14 events Amy Callaghan was very unlucky to miss out on the medals in the shot putt, throwing 11.18m to come fourth, and in a very strong field in the shot putt Amy Bellew just failed to make the top eight.

Then on Sunday Zoe Mohan competed in the Adult National Spring Throws Competition in Athlone IT Arena and she performed brilliantly to claim a bronze medal in the 3kg hammer event. •Cushinstown AC are looking forward to staging their annual track and field sports day on Sunday April 23rd, starting at 11am, with field events followed at 1pm by the various track races.
