Cancer awareness atBeacon Drogheda
BEACON Drogheda is holding a GP educational evening to tie in with Bowel Cancer Awareness Month 2017. THE event will take place on Wednesday, April 5 at 6.45pm in the City North Hotel, Gormanston. PRESENTING at the session will be Mr Rob Hannon, Consultant in General, Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgery, along with Mr Hugh Gallagher, Consultant Urologist, and Dr. Eddie Moloney, Consultant in Respiratory and Internal Medicine. RESPONSIBLE for some 11.5% of all cancer deaths in Ireland, both men and women are affected by bowel cancer, with men slightly more affected. Of the new cases diagnosed per year, the latest Irish Cancer Society figures show that 1463 are men and 1022 are women. HOWEVER, treatment options are readily available. At Beacon Drogheda’s educational event, GPs will be briefed on the telltale signs and latest developments in the area of bowel cancer, and given information on Beacon Drogheda’s services in general. Together with GPs, physiotherapists and practice nurses from the local area are invited to attend.
