New book is inspired by students’ family recipes
Inspired by family recipes, The Parents Council of Scoill Naomh Teasa, Bellewstown launched it’s firs Cookbook ‘From Our Kitchen’ in the school last week.
The cookbook is a collection of receipes the children have enjoyed which have been passed down to them by their grandparents.
There was a full house on the night for the launch of the book with students, parents and teachers all in attendance alongside local TD Thomas Byrne who also took time out to attend the event.
During the evening, the excited, delighted and talented schoolchildren recited humorous food themed poems, performed group and solo Irish dancing, Recorder playing, and class singing. Great credit to the teachers who prepared and supervised them.
‘Cooking with Granny is a very special and precious bonding occasion between child and grandparent’ sharing stories and unique experiences,’ explained a spokesperson for the student council.
‘A lot of work has gone into collecting the recipes, photographs and typing up the finished product. It celebrates cooking, not only as an essential life skill, but also as a creative and most enjoyable pastime that bonds generations.’ The book is already a big hit with everyone in the school and ‘From Our Kitchen’ looks set to be a valued heirloom in numerous Bellewstown homes, and beyond.
At the event, special thanks were extended to dedicated committee members; Laura Harrell, Sarah Lynch, Joanne Mc Comish, Annmarie Maughan and Edel Shuttleworth who worked so hard to ensure the success of this book project.
