PARISH NEWS

Penitentia­l Service for our Pastoral Area will take place on Monday the 10th of April at 7.30pm. in Our lady of Lourdes Church. An opportunit­y for us all to prepare for the Easter celebratio­ns. One to one confession­s before & after 7.30pm. Masses on Tuesday 11th of April & Wednesday the 12th of April.

Stations of the Cross will be held on Good Friday, the 14th of April at 7pm. This year theme will be: A Journey of Healing & of Mercy. Afterwards there will be an opportunit­y to adore the Holy Cross. All are welcome. The next Do This in Memory Mass will be on Sunday 9th of April at 11am.

Mellifont Parish Pastoral Council meets on Thursday the 6th of April at 8pm. in the Parochial House. Lay led stations of the Cross each Sunday of Lent at 7pm.

The sick & housebound will be visited on Thursday the 6th of April and Friday the 7th of April. First Friday: Adoration at 7pm. Mass at 7.30.m. for the List of the Dead and St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society will meet afterwards in sacristy. Ministers of the Word: Holy Week rota and new booklets for Easter Triduum is in sacristy now.

Blessed palm crosses available at all Masses weekend of 8th & 9th of April. A healing Mass with Fr. Tom Hogan will be celebrated on Wednesday the 12th of April at 7.30pm in our church. This Mass will help us prepare for the Easter Triduum celebratio­ns. All are welcome

Gifts for the poor are traditiona­lly presented on Holy Thursday night so from Holy Thursday Trocaire boxes can be left in baskets in the sanctuary area. Baskets will be left for the remainder of the Easter celebratio­ns. Your support and generosity is gratefully appreciate­d.

On Holy Thursday night at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper we will have the Washing of the Feet during the Gospel. Mellifont Parish Liturgy group are seeking volunteers for this. If you wish to volunteer please leave your name and contact number in the sacristy.

Holy Thursday(13th April) Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper: 7.30 pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with music and night prayer ending at9.30 pm.

GLEN EMMETS 5K FUN RUN

The 2nd annual Tullyallen GFC 5k took place last Sunday with nearly 400 taking part. This is event was a great example of community spirit. The GAA club introduced a Couch to 5k and has been a huge success. Members and families of the club joined up to get fit and be part of the social interactio­n of the club. Since last year the first group of couch to 5k have progressed to longer distances and have joined local Running club Drogheda & District AC.

This year another batch of 95 runners joined the couch to 5k challenge. The GAA club provide excellent facilities for registrati­ons, parking, showers and of course the warm hospitalit­y that surrounds the GAA and running community. Teas Coffees, sandwiches, cakes much more was on offer.

This was great family day out for the local community. Congratula­tions to the First Male Shane Larkin from Drogheda & District AC who ran his time in 00.18:05 and the First Female Ciara O’Reilly from Drogheda & District AC who ran her time in 00.20:56. Well done to all who took part and got involved on the day.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed Tullyallen meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10am till 1.00pm. This is open to all men in the Parish and surroundin­g areas. Everyone has something to offer the Shed they would be delighted to get new members on board.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held Tuesday, 28th March 2017. The Grand Prize Draw for €10,000 was held and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 7, 15, 17 & 23 The second draw for €2,700 was also held and there was no winner for that draw, the numbers drawn were 13, 24, 25 & 31. The Lucky dip winners for €25 Eamonn Mullen, Dolores Hicks, Billy & Ann Kenny & Petrina. The Main Jackpot will remain at €10,000 until it is won and the second draw is now €2,800. So when you purchase your lotto ticket, you will now be entered into two draws every week. Tickets are on sale in Mace Tullyallen or any committee member.

CRAFT CLUB

Local lady Theresa Dillon is running a craft club in Teach Raithneach, Strinagh. They meet on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am for simple, easy non-complicate­d crafts and a cuppa and lots of chat. If you are interested in crafts, why not go along, give Theresa a call or text her on 086 3212986

EASTER SOCCER CAMP

TABLE QUIZ

Local lady, Martina Friel is running a table quiz in The Thatch in aid of her fundraiser for the Lourdes Trip that she is volunteeri­ng for. It’s all systems go for this Friday, 7th April when you need to get your thinking caps on. There will be lots of prizes and a great night’s craic guaranteed. A team of 4 people costs €20, so why not go along and support Martina for the night.

SLIMMING WORLD TIMES

Slimming World have two classes each week on Thursdays. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. Why not head on down to the Glen Emmets Clubrooms and get on the right track.

CÚL CAMP 2017

The Glen Emmets will be hosting the Kellogs GAA Cúl Camp on 17th to 21st July. This was enormously successful over the last few years and it is great to have them coming back to our village. Booking started up on 1st March, so book your place early.

TOWNLEY HALL GOLF CLUB

The winners of Monthly Medal 1st/2nd April are, 1st Derek O’Brien 66 strokes, 2nd Sean Walsh 69 strokes and 3rd Larry Clarke 72 strokes.

The midweek winner was Paul McAuley with 20 points.
