Once again this year Baltray village is participating in the An Taisce National Spring Clean, a nationwide anti-litter programme which takes place during the whole month of April. A Clean-Up is planned along the water’s edge from Queensborough to Braghan Bridge, including the Promenade and as far as Ballydonnell. The paved area at Queenborough will be sprayed in advance so shovels are needed to lift the weeds. This all takes place this Saturday April 8th from 10am. Bags, gloves and morning tea will be provided.

A Baltray Village Summer Fair is being planned for Sunday August 6th (August Bank Holiday). This is due to the enormous success of last year’s Fair and this was only possible because of the generous local support received from donations and hands on deck. A Village Fair Committee is being formed which will meet a few times leading up to the day. If everyone can do a little, then all can lean back into the day and enjoy a great community event. If you want to join the Village Fair Committee please contact any committee member. The Tús initiative is continuing to work well.

The Residents Association would like to take this opportunity to extend a thank you to Lorraine Branigan for all her hard work during the year and is also delighted to welcome back Jim McGuirk to the team. Baltray and District Residents Association is a small committee which meets a few times a year in the 19th Lounge for a bit of organising and the craic.

Additional support is being sought and new members would be very welcome; anyone interested in joining should contact any committee member- Mary McGuirk, Maria Murphy, Helen O’Neill, Jackie Pope and Oliver Tully. Thank you to everyone who joined the Association for the Christmas festivities and supported the Christmas Raffle – your continued support is much appreciated. VIETNAM TRIP

There will be 11 TY students including some from Termonfeckin departing for Vietnam this Thursday April 6th. They will be accompanied by 6 adults including Christina’s Noble’s daughter Helenita. The group is scheduled to return on Thursday April 13th.

The trip is centred around the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF), the girls will get to visit orphanages and schools and also the opportunity to see first-hand various project work being carried out by CNCF.

The girls have raised €18,000 which will all go directly to CNCF to help contribute to the great work being done in Vietnam by the foundation with a significant proportion of the fund going towards the children’s bicycle support programme to help children receive education. Local people at home here have contributed most generously through the various fundraising activities that were carried out at the end of 2016 and this is greatly appreciated and acknowledged.
