‘People have as much chance of getting a house as they have of winning the lotto!’

-

LOCAL councillor Frank Godfrey has said people on the council housing list have as much chance of getting a house as they do of ‘winning the lotto’.

Addressing last week’s municipal district meeting, he said there was no definite dates for the start of proposed building projects and some people would be homeless but for their families.

‘We spent €20m on lands on the Ballymakenny Road and there’s no sign of a start on that,’ he said.

He did say that houses were being built at Bothar Brugha but it needed ‘more action and less talk.’

Earlier, Cllr Tommy Byrne had welcomed the fact that Tuath Housing was going to finish Liscorrie.

He urged that the estate be finished properly now. The new tenants will be housed via Choice based letting.
