Courthouse ready for May 1

-

Drogheda’s new multi-million euro courthouse will be fully operational in a matter of weeks, according to Senator Ged Nash.

He said, “After many years of campaigning by representatives of the legal profession locally, I was pleased to have been in a position to help secure this essential development for Drogheda.

“The new courthouse is a two courtroom venue with capital cost of approximately € 9 million, adjoining the Garda station.

“The handover to the Courts Service will take place on 1st May 2017.

“I can confirm that it is expected that the first sittings of the District Court will commence in the new courthouse during the course of May/June 2017.

“This is a very positive development for the centre of the town and will generate footfall for local businesses in the west end of the town and this project should be seen as a key part of the regeneration of a neglected part of Drogheda.

“I am also optimistic that sittings of the Circuit Court can take place in this new, state of the art complex.”
