Keenan inspires St Pats to Clans win
ST PATRICKS CLAN NA GAEL 0-14 0-6
ST Patricks booked their place in the Paddy Sheelan Cup semi-final when they scored an eight-point victory over Clan na Gael in Dundalk on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors went into the game on the back of some high scoring performances but they didn’t have it all their own way in a low scoring first half. They were able to pick up the pace after the break and with Paddy Keenan finishing with nine points to his name, the Pats emerged comfortable winners.
The opening period saw the teams share eight points, but both were guilty of wasting opportunities. The Clans will be disappointed that they didn’t take at least one of the three goal opportunities they created, but at the other end they were indebted to Sean Smith for making a fine save to deny the Pats.
The teams began the second half level at four points each, but the Pats make a quick start to the second half and were three points up inside two minutes.
The visitors never looked back after that and they added a further seven points to their tallyll withih theh ClClans managingi just two in reply before the final whistle.
