Rangers glide into semis

GLYDE RANGERS LANNLEIRE 1-18 1-6

-

GLYDE Rangers turned in a strong second half display to ease into the last four of the Kevin Mullen Shield at the expense of Lannleire.

The game in Tallanstown on Sunday afternoon was a competitive affair for much of a first half that ended with the hosts leading by five points. However, Lannleire’s challenge faded after the break and Glyde were rarely troubled as they went on to win by 12 points.

Brian Duffy was the man who led the charge for the winners as he landed a total of seven points from play in a very impressive performance.

It was the home side who made the brighter start and had two points on the board before Conor McCullough hit the net for the opening goal of the game on six minutes. However, Lannleire got into their stride and were rewarded when Colin Murphy got in for a goal early in the second quarter.

Glyde composed themselves after this setback and tagged on further points to take a 1-9 to 1-4 lead into the break.

The second half saw the Tallanstown side start brightly as they stretched their lead with early scores. Lannleire were unable to respond on this occasion and it was the hosts who ended up winners by 12 points.
