Sanctions imposed by board
THE Meath Co Board has imposed sanctions on the Slane and Drumconrath clubs following an investigation into a recent A League division four match which was abandoned after fighting broke out among spectators.
Both clubs have been fined €500 while the game has been declared null and void. In addition Pat McGowan (Slane) has been suspended for 48 weeks with Kevin Flanagan (Drumconrath) receiving a 12 week suspension.
The Co Board has yet to rule on a subsequent game between the clubs, a Tailteann Cup semi-final, which was scheduled for St Patrick’s Day but failed to take place.
The Gaeil Colmcille (Kells) club have been fined €2,000 following a lengthy investigation into an incident at the end of an under-17 match last September in which a Clann na nGael player was allegedly assaulted.
