Dunleer out in force at PK5K

A large number of Dunleer AC athletes took part in the Patsy Kelly 5km on Saturday night last.

Jack Mc Cullough led the men home in 16.53 and was first junior man and 7th overall. Next home for Dunleer AC was Pat Fitzpatric­k in 17.12 and in 10th place, followed by Anthony Connolly in 17.31, Garrett Murray in 18.23, Mark Carroll 18.25, Barry McGinn in 21.40, Liam Healy in 21.54 and Ian Pat Carroll in 24.35.

Nicola Courtney ran a great race to record a personal best of 21.50, leading the Dunleer AC ladies home.

Next was Audrey Murray in 23.46, Helen Cheshire 23.50, Deirdre Uí Liatháin in 24.25, Denise Gallagher 27.18, Niamh Mc Hugh 27.58, Anne Mc Gahon 28.32, Louise Carroll 28.35, Emma Kieran 28.39 and Kathryn Moran 35.47.

At the National 10k, held in Dublin’s Phoenix Park in conjunctio­n with the Great Ireland Run on Sunday, Dunleer AC’s Karen Costello proved her class once again with second place in her category.

W40 38.31 was Karen’s time on an undulating course and adds a silver National medal to her collection!
