Mattock’s fine form continues with big victory

MATTOCK RANGERS KILKERLEY EMMETS 2-13 0-9 Results

MATTOCK Rangers continued their fine form at the start of the season when they scored a ten point win at home to Kilkerley Emmets.

Once again it was David Reid who proved the inspiration as he finished with a total of 2-7, with both goals coming in the second half to kill off the Kilkerley challenge.

It was Adrian Reid who got his side off to a good start with points either side of a score from his former Louth colleague, Shane Lennon. David Reid then took centre stage with four pointed frees to see his side lead by 0-6 to 0-1.

Tadgh McEneaney responded with a point for the Emmets but Aaron O’Brien had the final say of the half to send his team in leading by 0-8 to 0-2.

After points were exchanged just after the restart, David Reid effectively put the game beyond the visitors with his first goal.

Kilkerley rallied briefly with a brace of points from Lennon and McEneaney and any slim hopes of a comeback were soon extinguished as Reid got in for his second goal to seal a deserved victory.
