ST PATRICKS DREADNOTS 1-14 2-10

-

INJURY-TIME points from Paddy Keenan and sub Evan White saw St Patricks snatch victory over Dreadnots in a thrilling game at Lordship on Sunday afternoon.

It looked as if the visitors were on course for victory when they edged ahead by a point with three minutes remainig. However, they were unable to hang on as the Pats found an extra bit of energy in the closing stages to claim their first win of the campaign.

With the Dreadnots being held to a draw in their opening game, and St Pats losing, there was a lot of pressure on both teams going into this match. It proved to be the recipe for an entertaining contest as the teams went toe-to-toe for the full 60 minutes.

It was the visitors who got off the mark first but were soon pegged back and coming up the the quarter-hour the teams were level at three points apiece.

The Clogher men struck the first major blow in the 15th minute when Pepe Smith hit the first goal of the game, only for the Pats to respond with the next four points of the game. The Dreadnots then went three ahead only to see Daniel Rice level matters with a goal and just before the break Paddy Keenan landed a point to send his team in leading by 1-8 to 1-7.

The hosts added two points at the start of the second half but again the momentum swung back to the Dreadnots when Smith claimed his second goal to level the game at 1-10 to 2-7.

The next four points were shared and when Dreadnots pointed to go in front it looked as if the visitors would hold out for the win. However, Pats refused to give in and levelled through Keenan before White sent over the winner.
