NAOMH Fionnbarra made it two wins from two when they recorded a three-point victory over O Raghallaighs at John Markey Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Barrs made the brighter start but suffered a blow when Jack Butterly was injured earning a ‘45’ that saw Bernard Osborne open the scoring.

Sub William Woods made a quick impression and scored two quick points from play before winning a penalty that was converted by Osborne.

O Raghallaighs got off the mark through Ruairi Moore, but Woods replied with a fine effort but just when it looked like the Togher men were going to run away with the game O Raghallaighs came to life with a point from play by Alan Doyle and a goal from a Ben Rogan penalty.

A second goal from Eoghan Moore on 25 minutes put the visitors ahead but just before the break Osborne pointed to make it 1-5 to 2-2 at half time.

Once again the Barrs made the brighter start to the second half and were five clear on 48 minutes .

It was looking comfortable for the hosts but the Drogheda men rallied and cut the gap to three thanks to efforts from Barry Flanagan. However, some excellent goalkeeping from Andy McCann ensured the Barrs held out for victory. ST Brides edged a closely contested local derby by the narrowest of margins on Sunday afternoon.

The Knockbridge side got off to a blistering start and were 1-1 ahead after four minutes.

Mochtas kicked their first point from the lively Ultan Larney and Brendan Duff and Louth player Darren McMahon added two quick points for St Mochtas.

The sides traded scores but Patrick Reilly netted to make it 2-6 to 0-6. Mochtas added two points before half time from Declan Byrne and Larney to cut the gap to four.

A Sean Brennan goal sretched the Bride’s lead to 3-6 to 0-8, but St Mochtas responded with the next three scores.

On 44 minutes Shane Brennan kicked what would be St Brides last score of the game, but also the winner. Declan Byrne added the final four scores, to leave just the minimum between the sides, but time ran out on the Louth Village men.
