ALBION Rovers and Woodview served up a cracking Eamonn Mulvenna Under-16 Cup clash which went all the way to extra time at the Fair Green on Sunday afternoon.

The gripping contest saw the Dundalk side 4-3 up with a minute left of normal time, but Albion rightback Conor O’Neill proved to be the hero when he let loose with a shot four yards inside his own half - sending it all the way to the roof of the opposing net to force extra time!

The game began perfectly for the visitors when the dashing Luke McCarthy set up Nathan McKeown to finish. Moments later Ryan Holland made it 2-0, but Woodview came right back with two goals before Albion struck to lead 3-2 at half-time.

Woodview came back to lead 4-3 in the second half before O’Neill found the net with that dramatic last-gasp strike.

Woodview looked as if they were hitting the front again early in extra time when they got another penalty, but keeper Hugh Murphy saved superbly to keep the score level.

That was the spur Albion needed and Ryan Holland made it 5-4 within five minutes. Ben Moonan then made it 6-4 and Nathan McKeown added a seventh in a remarkable contest.

Woodview were not fiinished and Murphy had to make a couple of vital stops before he saved a second penalty, only for the rebound to be rammed home.
