O Raghallaigh’s off mark
O RAGHALLAIGHS ST JOSEPHS 2-15 2-8
O RAGHALLAIGHS put in a very impressive performance to register a well-deserved victory over the Joes on Friday night at the Gaelic Grounds.
The Joes opened their campaign with two wins while the O Raghallaighs were in search of their first, and it was the Joes who started strongly netting a well-worked Conall O’Hanlon after three minutes.
From there on the O Raghallaighs took control and they hit backl with five points without reply to lead by 0-5 to 1-0 after 12 minutes.
O Raghallaighs continued to dominate, and building from defence they added points from Chris Smith, Ben Rogan and Dean Byrne, while Eoin Morrison hit the net to give his side a 1-10 to 1-2 lead at the break.
The second half was more evenly balanced on the scoreboard and the Joes were still in contention when they trailed by 1-14 to 1-8 at the end of the third quarter.
The Cluskey Park outfit needed a goal at that stage but instead it was the hosts who found the net through Eoin Moore on 47 minutes to effectively settle the issue.
Craig Doherty scored a second Joe’s goal six minutes from time but it was too little too late as the O Raghallaighs enjoyed their first win of the campaign.
