Bride’s survive late rally

ST BRIDES NA PIARSAIGH 1-14 1-11

-

ST BRIDES recorded their second win of the season as Kevin Hearty inspired victory over Na Piarsaigh.

The visitors started the better at Pairc An tAthair Ui Dhubhtaigh on Friday night and dominated early on rushing into 1-3 to no score lead with Hearty scoring the goal.

Alan McCartney got the hosts off the mark, however St Brides notched up another seven points compared to a solitary Ciaran Murphy effort for Na Piarsaigh.

The Knockbridge outfit’s domination was somewhat thwarted on 25 minutes when Sean Brennan was dismissed.

Na Piarsaigh took advantage of the extra man and responded with two points from Mark Larkin.

However, Bride’s talisman Kevin Hearty sent over a couple of late points to make it 1-12 to 0-4 at half time.

After the restart Na Piarsaigh came out of the blocks the quickest when substitute Paul Mallon slotted over. In response Sean Marry and James Costelloe scored two points for the visitors by the 35th minute.

However that concluded St. Brides scoring and midfielder Michael Woods netted his side’s goal shortly afterwards.

Na Piarsaigh kicked the last six points of the contest but ultimately ran out of time.
