MAURICE MURPHY CUP

NAOMH Moninne qualified for the final of the Special Championship with this hard earned victory over holders Mattock Rangers at the DYI Grounds on Saturday evening.

Aided by six points from midfielder Darren O Hanrahan the Dundalk team led by 0-10 to 1-0 at the break with the Mattock goal being scored by Tony Corcoran.

A further brace of second half goals from Jonny Matthews and Peter Mullen left Moninne only leading by the minimum, 0-13 to 3-3 with under ten minutes remaining.

Another point from Jonny Matthews tied up matters but it was the black and amber outfit who secured the victory with late points from Ronan Geoghegan and O Hanrahan.

They will now play Knockbridge in the final on Sunday May 14 following their narrow 2-12 to 1-13 victory over St Fechins on the same evening.
