Under-17s up for the Challenge
THE Louth U17 hurlers play their opening match in this years ‘Celtic Challenge’ when they travel to the Cloghan Centre of Excellence on Wednesday night (May 3rd) to take on Monaghan at 7.30pm.
This is the second year of this competition where all 32 counties take part in eight groups nationwide.
Teams are then graded based on the results of the group games before taking part in the Preliminary Playoff round on Saturday June 10.
The six divisional finals are scheduled to be played on Saturday June 24th at Dr Cullen Park in Carlow.
These two counties met in the corresponding fixture 12 months ago with the Wee County boys recording a good 1-9 to 1-5 victory in Darver.
Louth went on to record victories over Leitrim and Longford in the competition, two teams they will also meet again in Group ‘F’ this year.
Louth’s remaining fixtures in the ‘Celtic Challenge’ are as follows:
Wednesday May 10 v Meath Kings (home); Wednesday May 17 v Cavan (away); Saturday May 27 v Longford (home); Wednesday May 31 v Leitrim (away).
