THE draws for the 2017 Halpenny Travel Louth Ladies football championships were made in the Geraldines clubrooms, Haggardstown last Monday evening.
A founding member of Louth Ladies GAA Mickey Heeney, current Louth Ladies manager John O’Leary and members of the recent successful Louth ladies minor team helped conduct the draw.
In Senior, Group A appears to be the most competitive, comprising of holders Stabannon, 2014 winners Cooley Kickhams and Newtown Blues who won it a year earlier.
The St. Pats/Cuchulainn Gaels amalgamation, led by county star Kate Flood, and Roche/Na Piarsaigh complete a very competitive section.
In Group B, last season’s beaten finalists Geraldines will be fancied to top the group with 2016 Intermediate champions St.Bride’s also expected to advance. St.Kevin’s, with five members of the county senior panel to call on, will have their backers, with the emerging St Mochta’s completing the line-up.
In the Intermediate grade, St. Fechin’s will be hoping to go one better than last year when they lost the final to St Bride’s. Mattock Rangers will also fancy their chances as will the likes of the Kilkerley/Dowdallshill and Naomh Mairtin/Glen Emmets combinations.
Clans and O’Raghaillaigh’s, who meet in the Junior decider, have also been included in this grade.
