Pats sub over the Moon with big contribution
1-14 0-12
NIALL MOONEY played the role of super-sub as St Patrick’s chalked up another league win in Moynalvey last Thursday evening.
Mooney replaced Donal Landy in the opening quarter and went on to produce an outstanding display, scoring a goal and six points of his side’s tally.
The hosts started the better of the two teams and led 0-5 to 0-2 in the opening stages. St Patrick’s got the deficit back to the minimum before Mooney struck for the game’s only goal on 20 minutes.
Moynalvey were always playing catch-up after that and at the break it was the east Meath outfit who led 1-7 to 0-8.
That lead extended to seven points at one stage in the second half, and while Moynalvey hit back with a couple of points the St Patrick’s lead was never seriously threatened.
