Local clubs out in force for bumper Boyne 10k

A NEW route and an evening chill clearly suited some of the Boyne AC contenders as four of their seven representa­tives posted personal bests at the Dundalk DkIT 10k last Tuesday night.

First to crosss the line for the club was Sallyly Clarke who finished in a fine 42:47 as she took a dramaticti­c cut in distance from her usual marathon miles, and next in for Boyne was Rebecca Carolan who was delightedt­with a 44:55 finish.

Nicola Veale pushed herselflf hard over the undulating­ting course, securing a new PB timeti off 5151:1717, as did Jillian Connor who had a strong finish to cross the line in 53:08.

Judith McGuinness Faulkner was all smiles as she too achieved a new PB with a fantastic run in 54:04, while hot on her heels was Edel Mhic Ghabhann who posted her best-ever time over the distance - 54:27. Boyne’s other contender, Mairéad Hallinan, made a great return to competitiv­e action, coming home in 1:06:37 in her first 10k race in more than a year. Elsewhere, another evening rarace saw Karen ren Fairclough­Fai and GabbieGabb White take to ththe streets of DublinDu as they contestedc­o the VirginVir Media nightnig run. Seizing the excitingex opportunit­y por to run at nightn in the capital,capit these two ladies put their recent cent monthsmon of hard training to goodg use as ththey crossedd ththe finish line in super times of 52:54 and 56:01 respective­ly. Boyne AC were also represente­d at the Duleek CF 10k recently where Jacqueline Reid (pictured above) was delighted with her personal best time of 1hr 6min.
