A local couple can finally realise their dream to own their own home after scooping more than €45,000 in an online Lotto win.
Karl and Andrea Scarff from Duleek in County Meath are currently living in rented accommodation while they struggled to save enough money for a deposit on a house.
They are thrilled that their recent win of €45,742 for a Match 5 plus Bonus Number win in the National Lottery will help them secure a family home for their family. The happy couple, parents of seven-yearold Jack and seven-month-old James, collected their winning cheque for €45,742 for a Match 5 plus Bonus Number win in National Lottery headquarters today.
‘We are now going straight to meet a friend who is a mortgage broker to apply for a home loan. This win means so much to us. We have enough money for a deposit for a three bedroom house. We never thought we would see the day,’ said Karl, who works as an electrician with Mercury Engineering in Dublin. Andrea said seven-year-old Jack is constantly asking when the family will have their own house. ‘We haven’t told him the news yet. He is in school today and it is business as normal. But he will be thrilled.’
Karl has been playing lotto on-line for two years using the same numbers based on family birthdays through the National Lottery App. ‘It is so convenient. I play through the App every Thursday for Saturday and Wednesday’s Lotto, using the same numbers all the time.’
Andrea was out at a friend’s 40th birthday on Saturday night while Karl was at home babysitting when he saw the Lotto draw live on TTE One TV. ‘I was speechless when my numbers came up. My first thoughts were this is enough to put a deposit on a house. For us this is life changing.’
The biggest National Lottery win online to date is €5,513,556, while the biggest Euromillions win online is €632,452. There has been a €500,000 Daily Million Plus win. Meanwhile Saturdays Lotto Jackpot will be over €10 million. The Jackpot has been rolling over for since March 1st and will be the second highest of the year if won.
