Cilles ladies achieve major breakthrough
CILLES AC’s ladies enjoyed great success at the Boyne 10k as they scooped the second team prize.
The trio concerned were Mairead Murphy, Deirdre McNulty and Ciara Lenihan and the silver medals represented a great personal achievement for the ladies and for Cilles AC as a young club.
In all, 29 athletes donned the orange singlets for the popular race and a deceptively warm day made it a challenging run, but it was thoroughly enjoyed and even the hills couldn’t wipe the smiles off the faces of all those involved.
A special mention should go to Tyler Sweetman who medalled in the children’s races to the delight of his club and coaches.
The celebrations didn’t stop with the post-race cup of tea. Cilles AC is celebrating its third birthday and they partied afterwards in fine style in Moran’s of Mornington.
Somehow many of those who ran the 10k summoned up the energy to dance into the small hours, which could have been something to do with the DJ skills of Niall Bennett.
