ACTION BADLY NEEDED ON JOYRIDING INCIDENTS IN RATHMULLEN
IN an appeal to both the Gardai and Louth County Council to support residents in Rathmullan Park subjected to a spate of so called “joy riding” incidents over the past several weeks, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council Councillor Paul Bell has stated that those responsible for this criminal behaviour must be stopped.
“Many, many residents have contacted me to describe the ongoing situation which they are forced to endure in the early hours of the morning with a minority in the community acting with impunity and without fear of been challenged by the authorities.
‘Residents feel vulnerable and let down forming the view that no action will be taken until an innocent citizen is maimed or killed. I have in recent days expressed my concerns to Council and my expectations that the residents of the estate be protected against this criminal activity” said Bell.
In an appeal. Bell called on residents to unite and work together with the Gardai and Council in order to put a stop to “joy riding”.
“I have committed in my role as an elected representative to support the community and demand the intervention of the authorities in confronting those involved. I am also calling on the parents of the young people involved to intervene in the interests of the safety of the community,’ he added.
