Dreadnots halt Mattock progress

DREADNOTS 1-14 MATTOCK RANGERS 0-6

-

MATTOCK Rangers missed the chance to go top of the table when they lost out to a Dreadnots side who saw their revival continue with a second successive victory.

The Clogherhead men have been improving steadily over the course of the season and their second successive win means that the defending champions are now just a point off the pace at the top of the table.

With both sides showing early season promise, it was no surprise that there was little between the teams in the opening period. Once again David Reid led the charge for the home side, but it was a goal from Liam Shevlin that separated the sides at the interval as the Dreadnots turned around leading by 1-4 to 0-4.

Mattock’s hopes of taking something from the game soon evaporated as the visitors took a firm grip on proceedings in the second half. James Califf and Peter Kirwan were in fine scoring form to help their side win comfortably in the end.
