St Patrick’s well beaten

O’MAHONY’S 2-20 ST PATRICK’S 1-14

-

WITH a contribution of 1-10 from county player Ruairi O Coileain, O’Mahony’s leap-frogged St Patrick’s in the table following this clash at Paddy O’Brien Park.

A goal and five points of that tally came in the opening half, at the end of which the hosts led 1-9 to 1-7. St Patrick’s made a dreadful start and trailed 0-1 to 1-7 after 18 minutes. However, they enjoyed a dominant spell after that and with Shane Landy in fine form they were well in contention at the break.

Landy hit the St Patrick’s goal and also accounted for two points in the opening half. The Stamullen side’s other scorers in the half were Niall Mooney (two), Diarmuid Quinn, John Curtis and Barry Mooney.

Points from O Coileain and Henry Finnegan stretched the O’Mahony’s lead on the restart and the St Pat’s challenge faded after that. Landy added five further points to his tally, while Niall Mooney was the only other contributor to the St Patrick’s scoring in the second half.

ST PATRICK’S: Robert Cluskey; David Stafford, Michael McNulty, Ray Russell; Ciaran Sullivan, John Curtis 0-1, Alan Vickers; Shane Dowling, Barry Mooney 0-1; Diarmuid Quinn 0-1, Darren Hagan, Aaron Kenna; Shane Landy 1-7, Niall Mooney 0-4, Neil O’Flaherty. Subs: Niall Whearty for McNulty, Adam Byrne for Kenna, Shane McGinty for Vickers.
