MAC Bride Pitch & Putt Club played host to the National Matchplay qualifying rounds last week.
Congratulations to club member George Beardsley who was one of three to qualify from the Louth Down Monaghan region. He will be joined by Darren Fagan from Seapoint and Mark Millar from Cement. Best of luck to all in the finals which will take place in Tipperary Hills from 3rd to 5th June.
There was a great turnout for the Mac Bride Open Singles which took place from Wednesday 10th to Saturday last week. Winners were as follows:
Gents Senior Grade - 36 Nett: Barry Thornton (87nett), 36 Gross: Ian Donnelly (91gross), 18 Nett: Anto Kavanagh (44nett), 18 Gross: Wally Sheridan (47gross bk3). Inter Grade - 36 Nett: Ray Mc Kennna (90nett), 36 Gross: Kieran Mc Donnell (101gross), 18 Nett: Oliver Cooney (44nett bk9), 18 Gross: Anto Mullen (51gross bk9). Junior Grade - 36 Nett: Paddy Bird (85 nett), 36 Gross: Marco Vogelaar (106gross), 18 Nett: John Donnelly (43nett), 18 Gross: Brendan Walker (55gross). Ladies 0-10 Grade - 36 Nett: Mary Agnew (92nett), 36 Gross: Kathleen Geraghty (106gross), 18Nett/18Gross combined: Ann Bird (104). 11+ Grade

The hole-in-one prizes went to Kieran Mc Donnell, Mark Donnelly and Michael Vaughan.

The Annual John Mc Kenna Memorial Scratch Cup took place on Sunday and the overall winner was Ian Donnelly of Cement who finished on -22. The runner-up spot went to Mac Bride club member David O’Brien with a score of -20. Third place was won by Darren Mc Kenna of Cement with a score of -18 and the Final 18 prize went to Anto Kavanagh with a round of -8 (ob9). The Ladies 0-10 Grade was won by Ger Ward with a score of 102 and the 11+ Grade went to Wendy Mary Mooney with a score of 121.
There was no winner of last week’s club lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5, 12, 13 & 21 and the lucky dip winners were Brendan Walker, Mark Tuite and Edel Brady. The jackpot for next Tuesday’s draw will be €1,900.
