FR MATT’S DIAMOND JUBILEE

Congratula­tions and best wishes to Fr Matt Carpenter, Grangegeet­h, who celebrates his diamond jubilee to the priesthood this year. Ordained in 1957 to St Joseph’s Missionary Society of Mill Hill, Fr Matt is now retired and resides in St Joseph’s House, Dublin. Although retired, Fr Matt is still as active as ever, and regularly celebrates Mass in Grangegeet­h and other local churches. Go n-eiri an bothar leat Fr Matt, ‘is buiochas.

PRIDE OF PLACE ANTILITTER LEAGUE

The Anti-litter league has reached a conclusion with Round two results revealing 98 marks for Broomfield and District and Gold Medal status retained. With 97, first Round Marks and 98, second Round Marks (97.5 average), this places Broomfield and District among the highest achievers in this year’s League. Community Volunteers, who participat­ed throughout the league demonstrat­ed an immense Pride and Sense of Place.

Their dedication and commitment deserve the highest praise and acknowledg­ement.

Thanks a million, gold medals all round. Please keep up the good work throughout the remainder of the year, your efforts are noticeable. BROOMFIELD FESTIVAL 2017

Broomfield Festival 2017 starts on Thursday, June 1, and concludes on Friday, June 16. There is a great chance that the Cross Road Ceili will return this year to Grangegeet­h Cross. Watch this space please. Festival Brochure’s out shortly.

IRISH HEART FOUNDATION

A coffee morning will be held in Watter’s restaurant Collon on Friday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in aid of Irish Heart Foundation. Support and Help appreciate­d.

The Children’s Garden Group is anxious to recruit more children and parents for the coming Garden Season as work will begin shortly. MOTOR NEURONE GALA BALL 2017

Following on from the great success of last year’s summer Gala Ball we have decided to organise another Ball. The date for this year’s summer Gala Ball is Friday, June 23, in the renowned Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Co. Meath.

The evening commences with a Prosecco reception at 7.30 p.m. followed by dinner. We are thrilled to have Miriam O’Callaghan as our MC for the night and are delighted to welcome back the very talented Ronan Collins and his band to provide the music.

There will be a raffle and auction on the night, lots of spot prizes. We invite everybody to come along, have a fabulous evening in beautiful surroundin­gs, and support a fantastic organisati­on. This is an ideal opportunit­y to use the event for a family celebratio­n, company or club reward, or just a group of friends having an evening out while supporting IMNDA. GREENHILLS SUMMER CAMP

Greenhills summer Sports Camp will take place this year for two weeks: July 10 to July 14 and July 17 to July 21.
