The drama unfolded around 1.30am when the man was sitting in his black Volkswagen Golf at The Forge in Dunleer.

He was approached by a male who produced a knife and ordered him out of the vehicle.

The raider then fled the scene in the car.

He remained in custody at the time of going to press.

Robberies at scenic areas

TWO of the areas most scenic and popular locations have been again targeted by thieves.

On Wednesday May 10th, at Old Mellifont Abbey (pictured), a rented car was broken into at 3pm and a bag taken.

The following day, May 11th, at 11.45am, a window of a car parked at the Round Tower in Monasterboice was smashed and a number of items taken, including a handbag, mobile phone, passports, credit cards and a wallet.

It is believed a silver Volvo was seen in the vicinity and gardai are seeking any assistance in relation to these incidents.
