Specsavers pay a visit to St Joseph’s

-

THE team at Specsavers Drogheda recently visited St. Joseph’s Secondary School and conducted free colour vision screenings for all 4th, 5th and 6th year male students.

The store was encouraged to visit the local school as colour vision deficiencies are prevalent in 8% of Ireland’s male population, which can prohibit certain career opportunities and impact one’s lifestyle.

It was a great opportunity for Specsavers Drogheda to offer students, who are in the process of deciding their career pathway, the chance to partake in a free colour vision screening.

Staff from Specsavers Drogheda screened a total of 160 students and offered all students who failed or presented inconclusive results, a free eye examination in store. Staff at Specsavers Drogheda were then on hand to discuss the impact of these results with students following the school visit.

Fiona O’Donnell, store director at Specsavers Drogheda said, ‘ As a community optician and hearing centre, supporting local organisations and schools is a key part of our culture, so we are delighted that we visited local students at St. Joseph’s Secondary School to provide free colour vision screenings. Colour vision defects can impact on career opportunities and a students’ lifestyle, so we are happy to help local pupils at such a critical point in their school years.’

The team at Specsavers Drogheda offer both optical and hearing services to their customers. To book an appointment with the Specsavers Drogheda team, call (041) 983 9482 or visit www.specsavers.ie/drogheda.
