Kevin’s win scrappy tie

-

Reigning Junior Champions, St Kevins, beat current Division 4 winners, St Brides, in a scrappy affair in Philipstown.

Cian Callan finished off a well worked move to net the opening goal and St Kevins went in at half time leading 1-6 to 0-4.

It took until the 42nd minute before the first score of the second half was registered through a well taken ‘45’ from custodian, Conor Callan. This was the Kevins first score in 21 minutes, Conaill Devin pointed a free kick at the other end to cancel this out.

Sean Brennan had a chance to get St Brides a goal of their own but his effort was snuffed out by tenacious defending by the men in black and red. From the resulting play Cian Callan netted his second on 47 minutes, effectively ending the match as a contest.

However, two minutes later St Brides were handed a lifeline when their full forward, Cathal McKenna, was adjudged to have been impeded in the small rectangle. but Conaill Devin’s penalty effort was saved by Callan.
