Seans see off Mitchels

-

SEAN McDermotts picked up another vital victory as they held off the challenge of John Mitchels at Mountrush on Friday evening.

The result sees the Seans move clear of the relegation zone as they now have five points, while the Mitchels are still very much in the mix on two points as they sit just one place off the bottom.

In terms of possession, there was little to choose between the teams in the opening period but it was the Seans eye for goal that made the difference. Peter Osborne twice raised the green flag to help his side lead by 2-8 to 0-7 at half time.

The Mitchels came back strongly in the second half and gave themselves hope when they responded with a goal from Kevin Gallagher who would finish the evening with 1-8 to his name.

However, with Danny Commins, Kevin McGahon, Emmet Duffy and Patrick Osborne in fine form for the Seans, the home side held out to win by two points.
