Glens hit Naps for six

-

Glen Emmets picked up an important victory in the battle to avoid relegation with a comprehensive victory over Na Piarsaigh.

The Dundalk went into the game knowing that victory would lift them off the foot of the table and bring them level with the Emmets. However, the home side was in fine form and claimed a deserved victory to ensure they moved four points ahead of both Na Piarsaigh and Young Irelands who remain without a point after five games.

The Emmets based their victory on an impressive first half display that saw them strike the net four times. Robbie Byrne got the ball rolling with the first goal, before Sean Byrne struck either side of a Ronan Grufferty effort to make it 4-5 to 1-4 at the break. Mark Larkin hit the net for the Dundalk men.

The Tullyallen side continued to have the edge in the second half and added a further ten points along with goals from Grufferty and Mark Garvey to extend the lead to 16 points at the final whistle, with David Boyle scoring a goal to provide Na Piarsaigh with some consolation.
